🚴♀️ 🏁 Red Bike's Pint Night Derby 🏁🚴♀️
Let's race into the future together! Red Bike returns this spring, kickoff the riding season and the system reopening at our Pint Night Derby.
This is a pinewood derby tournament where participants race small, handcrafted wooden cars down a 40-ft track. Prizes for style and speed!
Not a Scout, no worries! Whether this is your first derby car or your tenth, you're welcome. Help us fuel a season of bike rides, community connections, and progress toward a more just and joyful transportation network.

🚲 Race to Win: Anyone can join the race for $25. Your entry fee secures you a spot in the tournament, one style-vote to cast, and a car build kit. The kit includes a block of wood, 4 axles, 4 wheels, and a mini-Red Bike.
🛠️Build Kit Pickup: Participants can pick up their derby car kits at Red Bike HQ, located at 600 Central Avenue, 45202, Monday through Friday Noon - 6 p.m., between April 1 - April 26.
🍻 Brews & Votes: Race, sip, and support. While the cars zoom down the track, grab a beer (or two) as you cheer on your favorites. A $1 from every beer purchased goes to Red Bike!
🏆 Prizes & Split-the-Pot: The fastest cars and the most stylish will be rewarded. Bring cash or have your Venmo ready for a Split-the-Pot raffle also. Go for glory, for fun, or for luck!

Car Specifications
- Maximum width – 2-3/4″
- Maximum Length – 7”
- Maximum weight – 5 Ounces
- Minimum width between wheels – 1-3/4″
- Minimum bottom clearance (so it does not rub on the track guides) – 3/8″
- Racecar must have 4 wheels
- Racecar must incorporate mini-Red Bike in/on the vehicle
- Racecar must include race number (included in packet pickup)
Rules & Expectations
- Wheel bearings, washers, and bushings are prohibited.
- The car must be free-wheeling, with no starting devices, motors, engines, or other propulsion.
- No lubricating oil may be used; axles may be lubricated with powdered graphite or silicone.
- Each car must pass inspection at check-in before it may compete. Check-in closes at 6 p.m. If a car does not pass inspection, you may make adjustments. Some tools will be on hand for adjustments, if you need a specific tool for your car please make sure you bring it with you. Be sure to check-in early in case of needed adjustments.
- You will not be able to choose which lane you race in. Luck of the draw, friends!
- Have fun and be a good sport! Yes, this is a race and tournament, but it’s also a FUNdraiser for your beloved bikeshare system. Be cool!
