About this Event

About the Training

Recovery Ally Training gives people the tools to understand how recovery from alcohol and other drugs is not only possible, but successful — and the confidence to support others with empathy and without judgement.

This CPD‑accredited workshop is co‑facilitated by people with lived experience of addiction and recovery. Their insights, stories and expertise help bring the learning to life in a meaningful and accessible way.

During the session, participants will:

  • Hear real stories of recovery
  • Challenge common myths about addiction
  • Learn how to respond in supportive, compassionate ways
  • Gain tools to recognise stigma
  • Explore how to create more recovery‑friendly environments in everyday settings — workplaces, colleges, services and communities

Each year, hundreds of people across the North East take part in this training, including teams from universities, the NHS, local councils, charities and community groups.

Who is this training for?
