Join us for an important conversation with Noongar leaders about the Day of Mourning.Aboriginal rights groups began to boycott 26 January in protest of the treatment of First Nations Australians from the early 1920s. These protests were formalised as the Day of Mourning from the 1930s and became an annual event to draw attention to the terrible treatment of First Nations Australians.
We acknowledge that for many, 26 January is not a day to celebrate. In light of this, Anthony Kickett and Tanesha Bennell, in conversation with our First Nations Coordinator Aimee Ryan, will share their personal stories and reflections on the significance of this day.
Conversations like these allow community to come together and provide a safe space for truth-telling.
Light refreshments will be provided.
Please arrive at 6.45pm for a 7.00pm start.
