Make Monday mornings a time to unwind into the week, to listen to the deep intelligence held in your body.
About this Event

Here is an invitation to start your week with some time for your body. In this series of movement workshops, we take time to move, dance, pause, reflect and create. The Bedminster Quaker House offers a beautiful light-filled hall and the sanctuary of an enclosed garden and private woodlands. We move in the warmth of the hall and take moments in nature, moving with the natural environment. We move with and without music. Moving between modalities, using art materials as part of the process. We work gently, without pushing or forcing. Following our felt sense of what feels good and how our body process wants to unfold.

In these sessions, we give space to the deep intelligence that’s held in our bodies. Our bodies hold so much knowledge, always interacting with the world around us; seeing, smelling, sensing and feeling the environment. This provides feedback to orient us and keep us safe. As social beings, we are responsive to the culture around us; the expectations, messages and stories. Our bodies help us to ‘fit in’ by adjusting our behaviour and actions. Our ability to respond to our physical and social environments is a remarkable thing and something to be honoured. It’s also something we can investigate with the intention of developing more conscious choices about what we carry, what we release and how we choose to live in our bodies. These workshops will offer a space for that inquiry through creative movement.

We explore our body as an Earth Body: inextricably part of the living world. A microcosm within a macrocosm. Giving time to feel our interconnection with our environment as a resource to ground and nourish us. We tentatively tune into our Socialised Body: how the culture surrounding us shapes our sense of self. Meeting the patterns of individualism, separation, and stories we’ve absorbed, making choices about what we carry forward and what we leave behind. We inquire into our Transpersonal Body: the possibility that our body is part of a bigger whole. Receiving and responding to what’s around us consciously and unconsciously. What do we hear when we truly listen to what our body wants to speak...
