About this Event
16 Days of Action Against Gender Based Violence is an international campaign that runs from 25th November to 10th December and encourages action and awareness against all forms of violence against women and girls.
On 25th November, which is White Ribbon Day, Empowerment will be holding, for the third year running a Reclaim the Night march, in Blackpool. We will take to the streets to demand the safety of women and girls in our town.
Violence against women and girls is rooted in harmful masculine traits. This years’ theme for White Ribbon Day is It Starts with Me n. And, together we can prevent violence against women and girls. It starts with me. It starts with me n.
It’s a family friendly event so all are welcome to march for safer streets for our sisters, our mothers, our daughters and our community. The previous 2 years representation from women and girls, as expected, has been high, but we would really like to see men represented too, because as we all know, to end male violence against women and girls, men and boys are part of the solution. We need more male allies!
We want as many of you to come along this year as possible, change is possible, but only when we come together collectively.
