This program juxtaposes sacred and secular art songs whose poetry was written by some of the greatest poets from the last thousand years, and includes the world premiere of Stephen Jackson's setting of John Donne's "Death be not proud" and the Christ Church Cathedral premieres of Melissa Dunphy's “Prayers of Hildegard”, using texts by 12th century German abbess & mystic, St. Hildegard of Bingen and Clint Borzoni's "Within the Looking Glass", setting texts by Lewis Carroll. You won't want to miss it! Also on the program is music by Rebecca Clarke, Theodore Chanler, Rosephanye Powell, and John Duke, featuring poetry by William Blake, Langston Hughes, and Emily Dickinson.Sara Cahall joins me on piano & organ for this fantastic program, and I hope to see you there!
