This all-French recital explores the richness of mélodie across the 19th and early 20th centuries, where poetry and music are inseparably entwined. Featuring art songs by Francis Poulenc, Franz Liszt, and Hector Berlioz - including Berlioz’s complete Les nuits d'été, setting the poetry of Théophile Gautier - alongside rarely heard duets by Cécile Chaminade, Ernest Chausson, and Charles-Marie Widor, the program offers a portrait of French vocal music at its most expressive and varied, inviting listeners into a vivid tapestry of nuance, color, and poetic imagination.Featuring:
Mitchell Sturges, Tenor
Seth Kershisnik, Baritone
Emily Williams, Piano
