Discover new ways to document and archive recipes, meals and food memories in this relaxed cookzine workshop
About this Event

This event will take place in the Clydeside Hall at The Briggait.

In this workshop led by poet and zinester Sean Wai Keung we'll explore various ways to document and archive our recipes, meals and food memories, from the everyday to the extra special. We'll prioritise images, thoughts, feelings and how we cook rather than exact measurements, and together we can make cookzines for loved ones, our communities, or just ourselves!

The workshop will be a relaxed and low-stakes environment where we will share recipes and food memories through conversation and discussion. We will use techniques including collage, illustration, poetry and curation to put together individual zines, as well as a collective zine commemorating the session.

Participants can expect to gain insight into different ideas and theories around recipe writing as well as to learn cooking tips and tricks from others! Participants will be given the chance to create their own individual cookzine and also to contribute to a wider community zine.

About the facilitator:

Sean Wai Keung is a poet and performance maker based in Glasgow. His work is often interested in food, migration, identity and community. His debut poetry collection sikfan glaschu was published by Verve Poetry Press in 2021 and he has made food-focussed zines with Being Mixed, the Woodlands Anti-Racist Community Library and more. Sean works as Poetry Reviews editor at Gutter Magazine and he recently completed a 4-week residency at the National Writers’ House of Australia as part of the Cove Park International Residency Exchange 2025.
