About this Event
About the book:
Sunday Times journalist Matt Rudd spent two years interviewing men in their thirties, forties, and fifties about why so many of them are quietly miserable. The result is funny, honest, and frequently surprising, covering work, marriage, friendship, fatherhood, and mental health. Turns out the system set up by men for men doesn't work for men either. It is making none of us happy.
Why we chose it: "This is the most honest, most revealing — and funniest — exploration of male mental health I have ever read." - Adam Kay, bestselling author of This Is Going to Hurt

Your host for the evening
Albert Kurniadi
Known for his nomadic lifestyle and inspiring ventures, Albert founded Unseen Tours, a social enterprise in London. One of Rebel Book Club's original members, Albert is bringing all he's learned from over 100 rebel nonfiction reads (so far!) to Australia.
Most impactful RBC moment: "Meeting Emmy Award winning investigative journalist Ramitha Navai in person to discuss her book City of Lies, and delving deep into Tehran's underworld and the impact of morality laws and censorship in contemporary Iran. Ramitha was one of RBC's very first authors to come to the club's monthly events and she set a very high bar for how engaging and impactful an author's presence can be for the book club."
Albert's top non-fiction recommendations:
- Into The Wild, by Jon Krakauer
- The Art of Gathering, by Priya Parker
- Why We Sleep, by Matthew Walker
