Join us for RBC's October event as we explore Dr Claire Plumbly's "Burnout: How to manage your nervous system before it manages you"
About this Event

Welcome to the RBC Perth event, where we'll be diving into October theme, Burnout: Exploring why burnout is happening more, how to prevent, or recover from it, through this month's read, Dr Claire Plumbly's .

More about Burnout:

Our nervous systems weren't designed for modern life's relentless assault—they handle acute stress but crumble under constant demands, trapping us in survival mode where rational thinking shuts down.

Dr. Claire Plumbly reveals why you can't "think" your way out of burnout and offers a science-based roadmap using polyvagal theory to soothe your hijacked nervous system back to full capacity—guiding your body out of perpetual fight-or-flight so you can actually think, create, and connect again.

Your host for the evening

Albert Kurniadi

Known for his nomadic lifestyle and inspiring ventures, Albert founded Unseen Tours, a social enterprise in London. One of Rebel Book Club's original members, Albert is bringing all he's learned from over 100 rebel nonfiction reads (so far!) to Australia.

Most impactful RBC moment: "Meeting Emmy Award winning investigative journalist Ramitha Navai in person to discuss her book City of Lies, and delving deep into Tehran's underworld and the impact of morality laws and censorship in contemporary Iran. Ramitha was one of RBC's very first authors to come to the club's monthly events and she set a very high bar for how engaging and impactful an author's presence can be for the book club."

Albert's top non-fiction recommendations:

  1. Into The Wild, by Jon Krakauer
  2. The Art of Gathering, by Priya Parker
  3. Why We Sleep, by Matthew Walker
