The Sacramento Aquarium Society is excited to host Rebecca Goldring, who will give a presentation entitled, “Dabbling in Dicrossus," presenting information on keeping and breeding the two most commonly found species of Dicrossus in the aquarium trade, Dicrossus maculatus & D. filamentosus. Includes information on rearing fry, determining the sex of adult/sub-adult fish, and behavioral observations.About the speaker:
As one of the oldest Millennials in existence, Ms. Goldring got her start in the early 80s, when people believed things like “if you maintain your fish correctly, you won’t have to clean the tank” and people owned rotary telephones. Fascinated with fish at an early age, she eventually settled into being the weird kid. Keeping fish, looking at fish, fishing for fish, and yes, even eating them. This life-long obsession led to early employment opportunities at The Aquarium Center and Roraima Tropicals, outside of Baltimore, Maryland. She currently maintains about 30 aquariums ranging in size from 5 to 300 gallons and keeps a variety of freshwater fish, aquatic plants, and invertebrates, as well as a few outdoor ponds. She’s bred a wide variety of fish, including South American Bumblebee Cats, Splash Tetras, and Checkerboard Cichlids. Current “fish goals” include spawning Gnathochromis permaxillaris and Tetraodon schoutedeni. You can find her on Instagram, @girlsgotfisshues.

The Sacramento Aquarium Society meets monthly, on the first Saturday of each month, at the Round Table Pizza, 9500 Greenback Lane, Folsom, CA (the business fronts onto Madison Avenue). General meetings start at 5:00pm. Pre-meeting social time and auction check-in starts at 3:00pm. No auction check-in is allowed after meeting starts at 5:00pm.
