The newlywed Mrs. de Winter moves in to her husbands luxuriously gothic mansion that is drenched in the specter of her new husband's late wife and tended to by the ever present and highly protective Mrs. Danvers.
Based on the novel by Daphne De Maurier, REBECCA is a lush, romantically tragic story full of atmosphere and suspicion perfectly fitting for Hitchcock’s first studio film in the USA. A beautiful exercise in tension accentuated by rich black and white photography.
