This session brings together leading experts in realist reviews to share their practical strategies and lived experience conducting impactful reviews across disciplines. Whether you're new to realist reviews or looking to deepen your expertise, this event will equip you with:

  • A strong grounding in the fundamentals of a realist philosophy of science
  • Practical searching and synthesis techniques in realist reviews
  • Real-world examples from completed realist reviews

Dr Nancy Clark – A leading figure in participatory realist research and mental health systems, recognized for bridging theory and practice, particularly in forced migration contexts.

Dr Simon Carroll – Brings extensive expertise in the history and evolution of realist reviews, with decades of experience in the field.

Dr Ferdinand C. Mukumbang – Internationally recognized for his work on realist philosophy, critical realism, and realist evaluation and reviews.

Dr Maura MacPhee – Renowned for her extensive research trajectory and for translating realist reviews into actionable insights for healthcare and policy.
