Five speakers with lived experience of incarceration, successfully reintegrated back into community, discuss improvements to reentry.
About this Event

This panel discussion brings together five speakers with lived experience of incarceration, each successfully reintegrated back into community and assisting others to do the same with effective reentry strategies. Kimmy Takata (Reentry Advocate and Peer Support Leader) will moderate the conversation, featuring Matt Taufetee (Director, First LAP: Life After Pr*son), Dida Baza (Peer Leader, The Ruth House), Nina Kealoha (Owner, Kon Kreations), and Trisha Liupaono (Founder, My Sister’s Keeper). They will share their personal journeys—what they experienced while incarcerated, what reentry looked like for them, and opportunities for the State of Hawaiʻi to improve support for incarcerated individuals and their ʻohana. The panelists hope to bring both honesty and solutions to the conversation.
