Ready for Anything: Disaster Recovery for State and Local Government

Join us at the Oregon Department of State Lands on May 14, 2026 at 1:00 PM (Pacific Time) for two engaging sessions on disaster recovery. Whether your agency, board or commission is just getting starting with building a disaster recovery plan or if you're looking for guidance on maturing the plan already in place, Gartner has a session to address your needs. Choose the session that works best for you - or register to attend both!

Session 1: Getting Started with Disaster Recovery Planning @ 1:00PM

Designed especially with Oregon's smaller agencies, boards and commissions in mind, this session focuses on the first, most important steps to be able to recover your mission critical applications after a disaster.

Session 2: Maturing Your Disaster Recovery Plan @ 2:30PM

Many I&O teams mistakenly treat disaster recovery as a one-time project to write a single “plan,” rather than as the foundation of an ongoing, continuous program. While these check-the-box plans might occasionally pass basic compliance audits, they are virtually impossible to execute during an actual crisis, resulting in a dangerous illusion of readiness known as “disaster recovery theater.”

Join Gartner to learn how you can position disaster recovery as an ongoing program nurtured through a multiyear “crawl, walk, run” roadmap, rather than as a simple yes/no question of whether DR exists. We will also discuss how you can prioritize operational readiness by conducting exercises and fostering a culture of continuous improvement over pass/fail compliance.
