Join our wonderful weekly Reading Friends Group at City Central Library. Reading Friends is a different kind of reading group than you might be used to - where a group of people meet on a regular basis to read together.
This is a great way to meet new people and share a passion for reading, discuss the story, the characters, and whether we can relate to it or not, all while enjoying the cup of tea and biscuits.
Come and join us, everyone is welcome!

Here is Emily (Volunteer) introducing herself and her new Reading Friends Group:
‘Hi! I’m Emily, I am 23, and an avid reader! I love any type of book, but especially love coming of age books, usually around the accomplishments and struggles of being in your twenties, and not really knowing what you want in life. I think we all can relate with these stories even if you’re not in your twenties anymore, as we go along, discovering who we are, and what we like/don’t like.
I’ve always loved helping out the community/small businesses etc - so I thought that by joining the Reading Friends group, I could try to make a difference and help my community - whilst also meeting new people and doing something that I love!
I would like to say I’m a very open person, so in my sessions I hope to create a community that doesn’t feel afraid to make a suggestion for the next week’s book. There will be no strict schedule - so one week we may do a poem and a short story based on a particular theme, the next we may read a chapter of a new book that everyone is talking about! I hope by running these sessions, we create a community, where people feel they belong, and don’t feel afraid to speak up.
So...who is this reading group for?
⭐️ I believe that people in their 20s-30s would feel like this group best suits them however, absolutely everyone is welcome!
⭐️ LGBTQ+, Non-Binary and Trans Inclusive 🌈
I look forward to meeting you all!’
