The 1781 Collective Presents...

/// WHAT: A classical music concert where you can do whatever you want, as long as it doesn’t disturb the others.
/// WHY: When I (Chris Lloyd, Founder - 1781 Collective) am in a concert, I love spending that silent time reading or responding to WhatsApp’s and emails - but it’s not socially allowed. So I wanted to open a space where it is!
/// HOW: Simply purchase a ticket, bring whatever you want/need for your activity, stay as long as you like. Concerts will last anywhere from 60-120 minutes, with no strict format.
/// WHO: Various members of the 1781 Collective and friends, playing various works they think are great. Concert #1 features 1781 Collective founding member, Chris Lloyd on the piano (with potential guests).

FAQ:
Q. I know you wrote the 'Why' above', but go into more detail?
A. We want to simply create a space that allows people to enjoy their time: imagine an entire hour where you're not distracted by anyone, not interrupted by people calling you, and just allowed to do whatever you want in peace. The dream! Catch up on all those pesky work emails you've been putting off, allocate an hour to pure reading in comfort, treat yourself to a leisurely moment of relaxing and enjoyment - all whilst being delivered awesome classical music, live and intimate.
Q. How many tickets are available?
A. We've allocated only 40 tickets for this event, which seems like a good amount to ensure the space isn't too filled to spread out and take your own space. Our events seem to sell out fairly frequently, so book to take away that nagging anxiety that they might be sold out by the time you've made up your mind!
Q. What are the limits of 'as long as it doesn't disturb the others'?
A. By and large people seem pretty cognisant of how they're affecting others - act within the boundaries of logic and reason; selfish behaviour that is overtly distracting will probably be looked down on by others in the room.
Q. What happens if someone is creating too much sound or being too distracting?
A. We'll respond first with the customary rebuking stare, before politely reminding everyone to be conscious of how their behaviour can interfere with the others. Mob rule is our second option, but hopefully we won't have to resort to this.
Q. Will there be activities for me to do whilst there, or should I bring everything along?
A. Bring along everything and anything you want! We have some House Rules (e.g. no alcohol in the performance space), but aside from that, we'll have some cushions, chairs, and evocative lighting waiting for you.
Q. How long does the event last?
A. As long as a piece of string is the initial plan: no shorter than one hour, no longer than two. Aim to arrive on time (between 18:30-19:00), and feel free to leave whenever you've had enough!
Q. Dress Code? Any other etiquette points to keep in mind?
A. No dress code! We'll run through the other things in the performance, but the whole point of this event is to keep it easy.
Q. I can't make this event, but I booked a ticket! What can I do?
A. To be honest, our preference would be that you find the coolest friend in your circles, and gift it to them - not only will we have a super cool delightful person in the room, but you'll have credit for gifting them a great experience (time and space!). Otherwise, it is possible for us to issue refunds even though it makes us sad.
Q. I can't make this event, but I want to know about the next ones!
A. Simply sign up for our Newsletter (www.1781collective.com/contact) or our Telegram Group at https://t.me/+3h7hb-IUfnw2YTU0 for all up-to-date announcements!
