Kids of all ages are welcome to sign up to read to Benny the Cat in 20 minute blocks.Benny is our library’s resident cat who is gentle, affectionate, and loves to spend time snuggled up with people. He also visits a local nursing home monthly and loves to lie quietly while getting all the pets so we know he will be a natural at being read to!
Benefits of reading to animals:
-Builds confidence and reading fluency
-Encourages compassion
-Increases motivation to read in reluctant readers
-Gives kids a sense of purpose while they bond with the animal
-Reduces anxiety
