About this Event
Join us as we put the “Lit” back in literacy! It’s a Black Book Party—books open, pizza in hand, music low—where reading feels social, joyful, and alive. And then we sing.
1:00 – 4:00 PM |
A cozy Reading Room curated by x , filled with rare, out-of-print, hard-to-find gems by Black writers — with a deep love for Black women’s stories.
The kind of books you forgot about. The kind you’ve been looking for. The kind you didn’t know you needed.
Warm, nostalgic playlist. Soft seating. Pizza party at the library energy.
No formal readings. No pressure. Just you, the pages, and whoever you end up talking to.
The will be there to sign you up for a digital library card and connect you to the African American Resource Collection — so you leave with more than just a vibe.
4:00 – 6:00 PM |
Then we go downstairs.
This is the release.
The songs that raised you. The lyrics you knew before you knew yourself. The soundtrack of how you became grown.
Tell us the story. Queue the song. We’re singing it with you.
If you love Black books. If you love Black music. If you love being in a room where you don’t have to explain yourself.
You probably shouldn’t miss this. ✨
