About this Event
Join us at The New Parkway Theater on February 12th for a curated cinematic experience that honors our past, protects our identity, and blueprints our future.
This isn't just a screening; it is a movement. For our 3rd Annual Black History Month gathering, Kingmakers of Oakland presents a powerful program of commissioned and original media, woven together by the philosophy of REACH, BACK, RETAIN. 🎟️ Your $20 ticket includes full access to the program plus food provided for all attendees.
🎬 The Cinematic Journey:
- REACH (The Future): Step into Afrofuturist visions of Oakland with Glisten and Ubuntu our animated music videos.
- BACK (The Heritage): Journey through the sacred cultural spaces of East Oakland with the student produced, Roots & Renaissance docuseries.
- RETAIN (The Identity): Witness the brilliance of neurodivergent Black boys in Portraits of A King: Beyond Labels.
🎤 The Live Finale:
The evening culminates in a headline performance by the hip-hop duo REACH, BACK, RETAIN (Jordon and Fiyah), bridging the gap between the screen and the stage.
