Re‑Listening to The Tetley: Live Performance is an experimental sound work by James Thompson, presented from 6–7pm on Wednesday 20 May at , 3 Sheaf Street, LS10 1HD.
During the performance, the artist re-composes from sound recordings of distressed architectural surfaces captured across The Tetley building in Hunslet, Leeds. These were made during the gallery’s final months on site between late 2023 and early 2024, following the building's sale to property developers as part of the Aire Park regeneration scheme.
Performed during the annual UKREiiF real estate conference in the surrounding area, the work invites a close re‑listening to the building, creating space to reflect on the loss of the gallery and the communities it supported, ahead of its conversion into luxury office space with a food hall and roof terrace.
The work utilises a speaker system recovered from a decommissioned public sound and live installation by artist Hans Peter Kuhn, which occupied Neville Street, Leeds, from 2009 to 2022.
The live performance forms part of James Thompson’s three‑day spatial audio installation presented 19–21 May at The Attic as part of the artist‑led visual arts festival (11–24 May).

The spatial audio installation will be open from 9am on 20 May, and you are welcome to arrive at any time before 6pm. The live performance begins at 6:10pm and lasts approximately 40 minutes.
The venue is fully accessible and has limited on‑street parking available.
