About this Event
The world of steam bending
Following free welcome drink and conversation from 7pm, this year's River Deben Association Autumn Talk at 7:30pm
Steam bending, the technique used by boatbuilders and furniture makers through the ages and still today, to manipulate wood into seemingly impossible shapes - combines science, craft and nature. Woodbridge Boatyard’s apprentices will be giving a live demonstration of steambending accompanied by a talk explaining its science and uses.
This will follow a brief Annual General Meeting of the River Deben Association.
The event will begin at 7:30pm, with free welcome drink from 7pm - the evening is free to members, £5 to non-members.
Jackie Brinsley, who kindly is the cover artist for this Spring's 'The Deben' magazine will also be at the event, to exhibit some of her work.
