The first film from Anthony Mann to truly showcase his exceptional talents as a noir filmmaker, Raw Deal sees social worker Ann (Marsha Hunt) and gangster’s moll Pat (Claire Trevor) duke it out for the soul of Joe Sullivan (Dennis O’Keefe). Sullivan, a wrongly convicted prisoner, busts out of the slammer determined to get even with gang boss Rick Coyle (Raymond Burr), who wants Sullivan dead before he reaches his hideout. But as the police and Coyle’s thugs move in, Sullivan must also contend with the competitive romantic feelings of his female companions. (USA, 1948, 79 mins, English | Dir. Anthony Mann)
