P&T Knitwear is pleased to welcome Ravi Gupta to celebrate the release of his newest book, Garbage Town: a mystery novel and coming-of-age story of a group of '90s teens who unearth buried truths in Staten Island's Fresh Kills landfill and embark on a fight for their lives.
Ravi will be joined in coversation by former New York congressman Max Rose. Along with a discussion and audience Q&A, Ravi will also sign copies of Garbage Town.
- This is a ticketed in-store event with limited amphitheater-style seating. Doors open at 6:30pm.
- Cost of a $5 general admission ticket can be applied towards your purchase of the featured event book or any product in our café the night of an event.
- Cost of a book bundle ticket reflects the total cost of the feature event book (MSRP plus tax). Each book bundle ticket guarantees ticket holders one (1) copy of the feature event book.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
is a serial social entrepreneur dedicated to reforming civic institutions. He is the cofounder and CEO of The Branch, a media company committed to combating online polarization.At The Branch, Ravi hosts several shows, including and Majority 54 — two podcasts focused on bridging the political divide — and , a collaboration with Crooked Media investigating an alleged political M**der in India.In addition, Ravi serves as the CEO and founder of Squadra Health, a company focused on longevity and wellness. Before these ventures, he cofounded Arena, where he led efforts that helped elect dozens of candidates and launched one of the largest campaign-staffer training academies in political history. Earlier in his career, Ravi founded and served as CEO of RePublic Schools, a network of charter schools in the South, and established Reimagine Prep, Mississippi’s first charter school. He also played key roles in Obama’s first campaign and first term, serving as an assistant to Chief Strategist David Axelrod and Ambassador Susan Rice.
A native of Staten Island, Ravi graduated from Yale Law School and Binghamton University. He’s won numerous awards, including the Truman Scholarship, the Webby Award, and Binghamton’s University Medal, along with recognition in Forbes’s “30 Under 30” and Crain’s “NYC 40 Under 40.”
ABOUT THE MODERATOR
Max Rose is the CEO of Pontis Holdings, a strategic advisory and investment firm. He also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Soufan Group, a global intelligence and security consultancy. He proudly represented New York’s 11th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives from 2019-2020. Max was commissioned in the United States Army in 2010 as an Infantry Officer and still serves as an Officer in the U.S. Army Reserves.
As the Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Intelligence and Counterterrorism and leading member of the Sub-Committee on Emergency Preparedness and Recovery, Max was a legislative leader on matters ranging from national security to healthcare resiliency. Max Rose also served as the Senior Advisor on COVID to the Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, responsible for coordinating the Department of Defense’s multi-billion-dollar COVID response as well as its support to the national and global effort. For his work, he received the Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service, the second highest award presented by the Secretary of Defense.
Prior to his election to Congress, Max served as a decorated Army Infantry Officer, deploying to Afghanistan as a platoon leader and receiving a Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his service. After returning from combat, Max worked as a Special Advisor to the Brooklyn District Attorney and as the Chief of Staff to Brightpoint Health (now a member of Sun River Health), one of the nation’s largest Federally Qualified Health Centers. Max graduated from Wesleyan University with a bachelor’s degree in history and earned a Master of Social Science from the London School of Economics. Max has been featured in both City and State and Crains’ 40 Under 40 and is a frequent contributor to major news stations and publications. His military decorations also include the Ranger tab and The Combat Infantryman Badge.
