RASreach 2026 | Non-Fellow Ticket

RASreach is a one-day Royal Astronomical Society conference for Education and Outreach, co-led with the University of Manchester’s Department of Physics and Astronomy and taking place in Manchester on Friday, 27 March 2026.

The meeting brings together RAS Fellows, local astronomical societies, science communicators, educators, and students to explore the current landscape of science communication across astronomy, geophysics, and space science.

This year’s programme focuses on the challenges and transitions shaping education and outreach practice. Across the sector, financial pressures are affecting activity within universities, research institutes, museums, and learned societies, while declining international student numbers have reduced income streams traditionally supporting public engagement. At the same time, the rapid emergence of AI tools is transforming communication workflows and prompting reflection on opportunity, authorship, and sustainability — particularly for freelancers.

Through talks, posters, and discussion, the conference provides space for honest reflection, shared experience, and practical exchange. Participants will explore how individuals and organisations are adapting, what new approaches are emerging, and how education and outreach can remain resilient, relevant, and impactful.
