About this Event

Join us in Accidental Theatre for a special night with rarewitch, who will perform his folk music, screen some animations, and premiere his new hip-hop play "A Hard Nut Life".

A Hard Nut Life is a one-man musical hip-hop play written, produced and performed by rarewitch. Set amidst the branches of a spiralling hierarchical evergreen tree, the worker squirrels have had enough, and stage a revolution to take back control of their nuts once and for all.

There will be a Q&A following the performance, hosted by pioneering comedy producer and promoter Graeme Watson.

rarewitch is a visual artist, film-maker, animator, musician and stand-up comedian based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. His eclectic practice is steeped in anarchic social commentary and cutting edge satire and explores themes such as fragile masculinity, urban decay, the trappings of mass-consumerism and more. His prolific animated shorts have gained a cult following online whereas his fine art practice focuses more on making use of space through installations and enticing the audience into becoming performances in spontaneous, live action satires of their own. Outside of visual art he records and releases music through the GACK Recording Label, mainly featuring a mixture of outsider folk music and hiphop.
