As part of the Albert-Eden & Puketāpapa Eco Festival, we’re offering a morning of raranga harakeke (flax weaving) and kaitiakitanga o te taiao (caring for our environment) at Te Noho Kotahitanga Marae. Arrive by 9.15 am
9.30am - Mihi Whakatau
9.45-10.45am - RARANGA KAITIAKI – PAPAWAI WHĀRIKI
Join Hinewaimarama Reihana-White to learn about kaitiakitanga, and weave papawai whāriki to place in the wai and create habitat for life in Te Waiunuroa o Wairaka.
10.45-11am - kapu tī
11am - 1pm - WĀHINE WHENUA
Join Dr Jo Diamond and Nat Rose Te Hei for a hands on session of raranga harakeke. Leave with a taonga harakeke created by you!
Everyone is welcome and tamariki must be supported by an adult.
