Buffalo Choral Arts Society is proud to present Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem. Join us March 9th for this timely and evocative performance.
Written in the wake of the Great War and amidst growing unrest across Europe, DONA NOBIS PACEM blends the poetry of Walt Whitman and biblical passages in an exploration of humanity’s capacity for violence – and humanity’s yearning for peace. Vaughan Williams’ piece remains evergreen, inviting modern audiences to consider as the original audiences did 90 years ago: is war worth the cost?
