Come fire raku pottery with us! Register today at cclcf.org (registration required)
Raku is a Japanese ceramic technique characterized by its unpredictable nature and the unique firing process, in which red-hot pottery is pulled from a kiln and rapidly cooled in a container of combustible materials such as sawdust or newspaper. This process creates a wide variety of effects depending on the glaze, so each piece is unlike any other.
Our Raku Workshops are beginner friendly. They take place on the last Sunday of every month.
We encourage participants to bring at least 2-5 pieces to be fired, as the instructor Geraldy aims for 4-5 firings. The ability to fire large work is subject to change. If you have something greater than 12" in any direction, please reach out to the instructor at [email protected].
Note: All bisque pieces must be glazed in raku glazes at least 24 hours prior to the firing. Need to glaze? Contact [email protected] or call the Main Office at (818) 790-4353 to schedule a glazing session at least 24 hours prior to the firing.
