, Digital Tech Cluster Manager, will share his experience of investing in tech startups, working with investors and helping companies raise seed investment. There will be a Q+A where James will be happy to answer your questions.

What is seed investment for tech startups? Seed funding is finance available for companies in exchange for a share of the business (equity), it is usually for companies in their first few years of existence. Seed investors recognise that the company is still developing its product, testing out routes to market and product-market-fit.

The finance is used to move from a testing stage to a position where the company has a market-ready product and knows how it will sell, perhaps even having made sales already. It is not an exact science and there are different perspectives. How much it costs to get to that next stage will affect the amount raised, for some, it’ll be £100k, for others it’ll be £3m.
