Are you a professional who wants to make a difference to deaf children and their families?

Join us at our upcoming online training to learn how to improve the support you provide to families of deaf children and young people.


Training overview

Raising a deaf child can be challenging with many families needing guidance to help understand the impact deafness can have.

Our CPD accredited online training will give you a wealth of ideas and strategies to improve the way you support parents and carers. We use evidence-based strategies that deliver a positive impact for families and deaf children.

This training provides you with the opportunity to practise new approaches. It is designed to teach you how to use our resource with parents and carers you support.

You will finish feeling inspired and confident to deliver our programme to the families you work with. We will provide you with all the plans, resources and evaluation tools you need. Enabling you to deliver and measure the impact of the programme.

How the training is structured?

The training is made up of 3 modules:

  • x1 e-learning module
  • x2 live workshops

You will be expected to complete all three elements in order to complete the training.

The x2 live workshops will be hosted on; Wednesday 5th and 12th June 2024 from 2 to 3pm with an optional Q&A from 3 to 3.30pm.

How to join?

This will be a Zoom session. When you first join, you may be prompted to download Zoom which only takes a few seconds to do with a normal broadband connection. Full joining instructions will be sent to you prior to the event.

You can access these workshops on any compatible device. We would recommend you join via your computer or laptop to fully contribute throughout the day. You can join using a phone or tablet if necessary, however, we cannot guarantee that all of the functions will work on these devices.


FAQs

H ow long is each session?

The training is made up of x2 1-hour sessions from 2 to 3pm. There is an optional 30-minute Q&A at the end of both sessions.


Is this training CPD accredited?

Yes, this online training is CPD accredited and will equate to 3 CPD hours / points, certified by CPD UK. Delegates who complete this training will receive a certificate of attendance.


Can we have the resources without attending the training?

As part of our quality assurance – the Raising a Deaf Child Facilitator Training resources are only available for those who have attended the training.


Can I join using any device?

You can access these workshops on any compatible device. We would recommend you join via your computer or laptop to fully contribute throughout the day. You can join using a phone or tablet if necessary, however, we cannot guarantee that all of the functions will work on these devices.


Do I need to do any prep before attending the live workshops?

Yes, you will need to complete the following two tasks prior to the first live workshop:

  • pre-event survey: a mandatory survey to gauge current confidence levels
  • e-learning module: a mandatory e-learning module that will take roughly 1 hour to complete.

Both of these will be available for completion on our training hub, prior to the first live workshop. We will provide you with login details closer to the event date if you do not already have an account.


Do I need to book my own communication support?

No, we will book this for you. All communication support requirements including captions and BSL interpreting are available by request only. Please indicate your preference on the booking form.


What if I need to cancel?

If you are unable to attend and need to cancel your place, please contact us at [email protected]. Refunds will be available as below.

If you cancel:

  • 7 working days or less before the planned date, you will be charged 100% of the total cost
  • 8-14 working days before the planned date, you will be charged 50% of the total cost
  • 15 working days before the planned date, you will not be charged.


Do you offer discounts?

Yes, we do. For Professional Members we offer 10% discount. For Educational Members we offer 50% discount per delegate.

Do I need to be a member?

No, however, if you'd like to become a Professional Member you can join for free. If you work in education and would like organisational membership for your early years, school or further education setting, join our new Educational Member (fees apply: £30-60 per academic year).

Our membership allows you to join our community of over 30,000 professionals who are supporting deaf children, young people and their families throughout the UK.

Once you’re registered you will receive your training discount code.

Can I give my place to a friend or colleague if I can't come?

Yes, however, you must notify us in advance, at least 3 days before the workshop takes place via [email protected]


Can I share my login details with a friend or colleague to join?

No. The login details are for 1 person only.

There will be a registration period prior to the start of the event where we will be checking the name of those entering against the delegate list (names of those registered to the purchased tickets).

If your name does not feature on the list, you will not be allowed entry to the workshop.
