In the past, communities came together to do "barn raisers" to take on projects that were too big for any one person. We are going to have a potluck and musical community gathering on Sat., Nov. 15th, at Odd Fellows Hall on Wilson Ave. in Blacksburg to raise funds to help our good friend Ash Devine finish her graduate program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at VT. Such programs are chronically underfunded, and students in these programs have to go into considerable debt to serve their communities. We want to help Ash get across the finish line with her studies, and we are suggesting people to make a $20 donation (or whatever you can afford) to help - all proceeds will go toward paying her tuition bill. No one is turned away for lack of funds. For almost two decades, Ash has been a freelance artist in arts and health/human services, providing music, education, and creative therapeutic programming to adults in assisted living, youth, and other vulnerable groups. The credentials will make her career sustainable. More info at her website at www.ashdevine.net
