About this Event
Raise a Glass is a cultural tour of some of Waterford City’s beloved bars. It’s a drinking, thinking, talking, walking, and toasting tour.
You’ll meet your guide Sinéad at a prominent plaza setting on the quayside and then we’ll meander to lively local establishments, each stop with its own unique history and quirks. Along the way, we’ll pause and note other important hospitality heritage spots.

Our first pub-of-call is a bar situated in the cultural quarter with a lengthy and sometimes turbulent history. After savouring the house special here, we’ll continue to a family-run hostelry that lies at the edge of the Viking Triangle. sitting on the historic city quays. Then we’ll continue our cultural journey towards the busy Applemarket area where our last call is at a quirky bar that’s an old favourite.
This tour explores the heritage, history, and social stories behind some of the city’s finest public houses. We’ll discuss Irish Pub Culture, past and present. And together we’ll do our best to figure out what the future holds for the Irish ‘Wet’ Pub; is it a story of a glass-half-full or half-empty?
So, if you’re curious when it comes to Waterford’s Publore and more, join in and let us lead the way!
