Thrilled to welcome two pioneers of Detroit Techno to Kansas City for an incredibly rare co-headline event featuring some of the heaviest hitters of the genre in both live performance and technical ability.
[Dopplereffekt is one of many electro projects involving Detroit’s Gerald Donald (of the legendary duo Drexciya) and is one of the strangest and most mysterious units of the contemporary electronic music scene. There is only one known interview and very few live appearances. Dopplereffekt’s music is highly eclectic and unusual. Even if at first sight the forefathers Kraftwerk seem to be more than present, Dopplereffekt have developed their very own and highly influential sound aesthetic, without which the current electro culture seems to be unthinkable.]
[Donning his emblematic balaclava, DJ Stingray’s cyborg-like DJ sets continue to leave audiences captivated globally for decades. This skilled approach to the dancefloor gives him quite the in-demand gig schedule, appearing at landmark festivals and venues. Stingray’s career continued on as DJ Stingray 313 (and as Stingray313, respectively), after Stinson’s passing in 2002 in respect of the Drexciyan legacy. DJ Stingray 313’s music and sets are met with high praise in the media, with constant appearances in DJ Mag, Resident Advisor, Mixmag, The Wire, Pitchfork and Fact Magazine, as well as mixes on BBC radio. DJ Stingray 313 remains a steadfast figure in his uncompromising sound, craftily setting the soundtrack to the not-too-distant future.]
