About this Event
Donation Based Breath Work: Minimum $20 (Venmo: @Alex-Sortino-2, Cash App: $AlexSortino)
This is beginner friendly, great way to release stress and anxiety from the week. Release all of the stored emotions so you can enjoy the weekend. I am looking to establish more sober events as well. After the breathwork we will have a talking circle and discuss anything the group would like to talk about.
What is Somatic Breath work?
Through the two part breath technique we are initiating the stress response(fight, flight or freeze, fawn) in the body, but in an environment where we are actually physically safe. This allows us to tap into and access emotions, or traumas from the past that were suppressed and stored in the body, most of which can’t be accessed through traditional, cognitive speech therapy - which is what makes somatic breathwork so powerful.
Breath work is leading the field as the #1 healing modality in the world. There’s no better time to be entering into this space than right now for whatever reason is calling you to it
Benefits of Holotropic Breath Work:
Emotional lightness and balance, boost of energy, creativity and will power, relief of some psychosomatic symptoms, physical tension, realization of true goals and needs, mental clarity, decreased inflammation in the body, confidence about your own path, release of repressed subconscious material, and create a deep connection with self
You want to be in an area that you will be uninterrupted for the entirety of the session.
Free yourself from distractions by putting your phone on silent and giving full focus to the journey ahead.
Instructions:
-bring an eye mask, pillows and blankets provided, and bring a yoga mat
-Posture/Comforts
-Lying down is best on a comfortable floor or yoga mat
-Head flat on the floor or a small pillow behind the head for comfort
-You don't want a pillow that forces neck to close up
-Refraining from a large meal at least 30-45 before breath work
Common Physical Sensations:
Vibrations, tingling, some light headedness(temporary), feelings of “floating”
Cramping in the face or hands
Medical term for this is tetany, you may hear it referred to as “lobster claws” - it’s caused by the imbalance of CO2 and O2 in the body and blood which causes the blood to become more alkaline( last about 3-4 hours).
The harder you exhale the more that the hands can tighten and cramp - it’s important for the exhale to be a simple letting go of the breath and not forced in any way for this reason.
Embarking on a Transformative Breath Journey, encompassing Breathwork and ice baths, holds the potential to unlock your true capabilities and transform your life.
