Step into the fullness of summer in this 90-minute QiGong, yoga, and somatic dance workshop devoted to the Fire element—the realm of the Heart, joy, connection, and creative expansion. Like the sun at its peak, Fire invites us into warmth, visibility, and aliveness, illuminating what longs to be expressed.Rooted in Chinese Medicine, this practice explores the Heart as both a physical organ and a spiritual center. The Fire element governs circulation, relationship, and consciousness itself—what the Taoists call Shen, the radiant spirit that shines through the eyes, the voice, and the quality of our presence. Through intentional movement and breath, we’ll explore how to ignite energy and enthusiasm while remaining grounded and regulated.
We’ll begin by gently warming and opening the chest, shoulders, arms, and upper back—cultivating circulation and spaciousness around the Heart. QiGong sequences will support vitality and coherence; yoga postures will invite deep listening and integration; and embodied dance will offer a playful, expressive space for connection and joy to emerge.
This practice emphasizes expansion with containment, learning how to hold the brilliance of Fire without burnout. We’ll explore rhythms of opening and softening, giving and receiving, expression and rest—honoring the importance of boundaries as a way to protect and sustain our inner light.
From this centered, heart-anchored place, we’ll move into expressive, relational movement—where yoga’s mindful awareness meets dance’s celebratory storytelling. Simple, accessible prompts invite you to move in community while staying attuned to your own inner landscape, awakening warmth, joy, and authentic self-expression.
Together we’ll honor the turning of the season: Summer and the Summer Solstice, a time of illumination, ripening, and shared vitality. This workshop offers space to reconnect with your heart’s wisdom, to feel the pleasure of being fully alive in your body, and to remember movement as a source of joy, connection, and embodied presence.
