Radiant Sun Poetry Society is a local poetry group dedicated to bringing breath and life to the written word in supportive community.
We will meet for our next poetry reading Monday Feb 3rd, 7-9pm. Please be on time as we would like to get everyone integrated into the space and ready for this experience of poetic expression!
A few house rules:
1. We will start and end on time. Start time: 7 pm. End time: 8:45 pm.
2. Everybody’s voice will be heard. Everyone in the poetry circle will have the chance to read (at least) one poem.
3. Respectful listening. When someone else is reading a poem or sharing, other participants listen, not talk.
4. You can read your own poems or other author’s work.
5. We suggest you come prepared with 2-5 poems to read (you may or may not have time to read them all).
6. FULL EXPRESSION OF ALIVENESS. If your reading needs to be sung, danced, cried out, or read while rolling on the ground like a worm, then that expression is welcomed!
7. Please limit phone use in the circle unless you are using it to read a poem.
This is a space where everyone’s voice is honored and safe. Not only do we want to hear what you have to say, we NEED it. More than ever we need to be sharing our voices, our thoughts, aspirations, fears. We want you to share poetry that tears your heart open or puts it back together — from your own heart or any other author out there.
These guidelines are a living document and your hosts have full discretion to adapt or change any rules as we see fit for the event.
