Above and Below the English RivieraRachael, who is currently completing a PhD in Art & Media at the University of Plymouth, will be producing a new body of work in still and moving image responding to thresholds above and below the horizon of the English Riviera, UNESCO Global Geopark. Her interest in the diverse aquatic environments of the southwest region and beyond, will inform works that look at the micro and macro of our waters, considering our seagrass meadows, sea caves, plankton and the diversity of life teeming in our oceans.
Rachael’s on location and in-person studio residency forms part of a six-month project along with three other artists, Gill Melling, James Murch and Laura Segan, each of whom will be independently exploring their own chosen narrative with English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark partners and associate partners, as well as audiences from across Torbay.
