In this unique conceptual concert, acclaimed sarod maestro Indrayuddh Majumder and versatile vocalist Anwesshaa come together for the very first time on the Kolkata stage to create “Raaghazal” – a mesmerising conversation between instrumental classical music and lyrical ghazal singing.
Indrayuddh Majumder, a torchbearer of the Senia Maihar Gharana, is the son and disciple of world-renowned sarod legend Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumdar. Trained from the age of five, he has already established himself as one of the most promising young sarod players of his generation. With deep-rooted tradition, technical brilliance and a soulful touch, Indrayuddh’s sarod creates an immersive soundscape that feels both timeless and contemporary.
Anwesshaa (Anwesha Mita Dattagupta) is one of India’s most expressive voices. Having made her Bollywood debut at just 14, she has lent her voice to over 500 songs across Hindi, Bengali and other Indian languages. Renowned for her ghazal renditions and emotive singing (including memorable performances on Coke Studio), Anwesshaa brings depth, passion and poetic elegance to every phrase she sings.
Together, the duo presents a rare and intimate musical dialogue: ragas unfold on the sarod with majestic alaap, jod and taans, while Anwesshaa’s voice weaves in soul-stirring ghazals that echo the same emotional core. It is not fusion — it is a conversation between two classical forms, each enhancing the beauty of the other.
