The focus of this workshop will be on the QWA StrongKids program and the development of safe, engaging and age-appropriate weightlifting experiences for young athletes. The QWA StrongKids program aims to support coaches and clubs to build strong foundations in technique, movement quality, confidence and enjoyment in weightlifting, while aligning with best-practice U12 development principles.The workshop will include:
• Practical coaching strategies for U12 athletes within the QWA StrongKids framework
• Key principles of long-term athlete development in weightlifting
• Safe and progressive skill development
• Ideas for delivering the QWA StrongKids program within clubs
• Opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing across QWA clubs
Clubs are encouraged to send coaches, volunteers and anyone involved in junior programs. This workshop is an important opportunity to strengthen junior pathways across Queensland and support consistent, high-quality experiences for young lifters.
For regional and North Queensland clubs, QWA will provide updates regarding the delivery of a QWA StrongKids workshop in the second half of 2026.
