Mooncakes

Why do we eat mooncakes to celebrate?

Mooncakes are one of the most popular foods eaten during the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival and the custom has several different origins. In ancient times mooncakes were made and eaten as an offering for the moon, but they've become symbolic in many other ways. Their roundness symbolises completeness and togetherness. They also look like the full moon that can be seen in the night sky during the festival. Around the globe people enjoy mooncakes after a big family dinner while drinking tea and admiring the moon. For many, eating mooncakes isn’t just about their delicious sweet taste! It honours cultural traditions that have been around for thousands of years.
