Harmonica player and singer born in Madrid, Quique starts playing harmonica at age 18 and assembles his first band, Juan Bourbon, Juan Scoth & Juan Beer, at the age of 20. It’s with this band he travels the Spanish stages during the following decade, while studying and running a small club.In 2008, he visits Chicago and meets some of the Blues’ greatest exponents with whom he starts playing frequently on both sides of the Atlantic. Quique has stepped on stages from 5 continents, sharing them with artists such as John Primer, Eddie C. Campbell, Bob Stroger, Rockin Johnny, Jimmy Burns, Tail Dragger, Kenny Blues Boss Wayne…
Quique Gómez & His Vipers, his regular band, release Dealin ‘With the Blues (Sweet Records 2018) on a big tour in Europe, South America, EEUU and Japan
In 2019 he releases 2 Hombres Wanted together with the Chicago guitar master Johnny Burgin recorded in Austin, Texas.
Is also on 2019 when Quique goes for first time to Texas and he meets Kid Andersen. Only a couple of months later he comes back to California on tour together with Kid, and Is then when he meet the guitar Legend Little Charlie Baty. Charlie is captivated by Quique´s musical tastes and his jazzy approach on his singing and harmonica skills. Quique returns to California later that year for the recording Cooking at Greaseland together with Little Charlie Baty (Charlie’s last recording before his pass) recorded at Greaseland studios, San Jose California with Kid Andersen and Alexander Pettersen on the rythm section.
Quique puts the harmonica aside on occasions to show us his most “crooner” side as the BOB SANDS BIG BAND’s singer. With this New Yorker’s band, he. performs classics of Swing era such as Frank Sinatra, Count Basie, Thad Jones…. accompanied by 18 other musicians on stage.
As a complement to his life on stage, he is the director of the Intensive Blues Course in Béjar, Spain, since 2009.
2024 he is working on the recording of 2 new projects with 2 of his favourite guitar players:
– First one, a Duo sessions with the great jazz guitar Tim Lerch
– second one with genious guitar Duke Robillard
both in California and both will be release in 2025. …………All this while playing and touring around the world!!
“Quique Gómez gives historical blues lesson on his latest release. His exciting voice and harp virtuosity run right in proportion of the tight backing band.
What a stunner of a CD! Highly recommended! “
