About this Event
****PLEASE NOTE: £10.00 FROM EVERY PLACE ON THIS CLASS WILL BE DONATED TO THE QUILTS FOR THE LONGEST DAY PROJECT, WHICH MAKES AND DONATES QUILTS TO VETERANS IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY****
This course involves making a poppy block, quilting it, then turning it into a cushion.
You will start by making your poppy block, layering it up and quilting it. This will require you to sew with a quarter inch seam allowance accurately. You can then use this panel to make your cushion, which will have bound edges. You can either have an envelope back or a zip on your cushion, but please note that tuition will not be given on fitting zips in this class, so if that's the finish you want, you will need to be able to do it independently.
Whether you finish your cushion on the day will depend on how much quilting you decide to do on it.
All materials, a 20" / 50cm cushion pad and a zip (if you choose to use one) will be included as part of the class.
Tea, coffee, soft drinks and homemade cake are included.
This is an all-day course, so you will need to either bring a packed lunch, or buy something from a local shop on the day.
Length of course: Six hours.
Skill level: Intermediate
As for all of our sewing workshops, you must be able to use a sewing with a reasonable level of competance, as tuition on this basic skill cannot be given as part of this class.
It is also possible that your cushion will not be finished on the day, so you will need to be able to finish off independently, if necessary (a detailed handout will be given).
Terms and conditions:
Our workshops are open to individuals aged fourteen and upwards. However, a responsible adult must remain on site at all time with minors.
Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your place.
