About this Event
We’re bringing back the magic of our childhood Scholastic Book Fairs, but making it queer!
Who didn’t love perusing the stacks of books -- while also getting out of class -- and those colorful newsletters they sent home the week beforehand, and, most importantly, discovering your next favorite read?
Our new Queerlastic Book Fair series will revive that ‘80s and ‘90s book fair energy as a celebration of LGBTQ+ literature, creativity, and community.
Browse tables filled with books from local independent booksellers, meet LGBTQ+ authors from across the region, and discover artwork, zines, prints, stickers, and other creations from talented local artists and makers.
Our first Queerlastic Book Fair takes place Sunday, June 21, noon to 3 p.m., at St. Petersburg City Theatre, 4025 31st Street S.
The book fair will happen in conjunction with the Royal Tea Art Show, a Pride-themed art show on display at the theater throughout June. The art show’s opening reception takes place June 4, 5 to 8 p.m.
After this, Queerlastic Book Fairs will move around each month, from venue to venue across the greater Tampa Bay area and Central Florida.
Booksellers, authors, artists and other creators who celebrate or are part of the LGBTQ+ community are welcome to register for this event.
Registration is $10 per vendor. All vendors must bring their own table and chairs. (These items will not be provided.) Tables up to 6 feet long permitted.
Vendor fees will benefit the St. Petersburg City Theatre, which is a nonprofit organization.
Shoppers are asked to pay a suggested $5 donation at the door, which will also be given to the theater.
