About this Event
Join us every week to hangout and lift weights with other queer people! All ages, levels of experience, and forms of exercise are welcome. Drop-in at any time and stay for however long you'd like! Our meetups are free and there's no registration required. Just come hangout!
We'll have snacks, water, masks, and plenty of weight lifting equipment available! See "Information, Accessibility, and Waivers -- Google Docs" at (https://linktr.ee/queerliftingclub) for a full list of available equipment.
Our meetups are not instructional, but we're always happy to provide guidance for anyone who wants it.
CANCELLATIONS:
If you don't see a weekly meetup scheduled on Eventbrite, it has likely been cancelled or rescheduled. See our Instagram or https://linktr.ee/queerliftingclub for clarification on cancellations.
CONTACTS:
Find more information, new events, and our social media at https://linktr.ee/queerliftingclub
Feel free to send us an email with any questions at [email protected]
Waivers:
Everyone is required to sign a waiver for liability reasons due to the heavy weight lifting equipment involved. The waiver can be accessed ahead of time at https://linktr.ee/queerliftingclub. We will have waivers available to be signed as people arrive. No deadnames on the waiver please!
If you're under 18, please make sure a legal guardian can sign the waiver. There's no mention of "queer" on the under 18 waiver.
Entrances:
The church’s back entrance (near the parking lot) will be unlocked. If you need the door opened for you, ring the doorbell. There is a staircase immediately following the back entrance.
The (partially) wheelchair accessible entrance is identifiable by a long ramp starting at the intersection of Sparks Street and Bay Street. It has two large, wooden doors at the end of the ramp (and a large staircase) that can be seen from the road below. To use the wheelchair accessible entrance, ring the doorbell or contact us, and we will hold the door(s) open for you. There will be contact methods posted on the door. The front doors will otherwise remain locked. Please email us if you need the contact methods ahead of time. There will be posters at both doors with instructions. In order to access the workout space, you have to go through a second entrance that is narrower. This entrance measures exactly 35 inches in width. Please let us know if there are any ways we can support you in accessing the club given this limitation.
Masks:
Masks are strongly encouraged. We will provide kn94 masks.
Quiet area:
There is a quiet area with seating and low-lighting. There is also a park across the street where you can take a break if needed.
Restrooms:
The church has two private, gender-neutral restrooms. One is wheelchair accessible. We always have pads and tampons available in the restrooms for anyone who needs them.
Transportation:
There are some free parking spots in the driveway of the church (beside the parking lot). There is also paid parking in the parking lot and free street parking nearby. The church is close to Lyon station by train/bus. Bikers can keep a bike locked on the railings outside the church or unlocked in the church hall.
When transporting, keep in mind that the event is drop-in, and starts at 6pm. Most weeks, we will not be there to let people in until very close to 6pm. Because of the drop-in style of the meetups, it’s better to arrive later than arrive earlier and wait outside.
Contact us with ANY questions :) See you there!
