About this Event
Come join us for a quintissentially queer, positively prideful edition of at Ginger's Bar in Park Slope! The show will be hosted by our favorite drag king couple, Luxury Bones and Andie Sleaze, and feature 5 LGBTQIA+ storytellers sharing their "coming out" stories. The show will run about an hour and a half, with a 10 minute intermission.
Theme: I'M COMING OUT!
It's time for a night filled with stories about the most universal LGBTQIA+ experience there is: Coming Out! Though the experience is universal, coming out doesn't look one way. We all come out in our own time, at different ages, in different ways, and for different parts of identities. For some, we know very young who we are and say it with pride. For others, we grow up and live in an intolerant world or community, and it takes time until we can finally admit this part to ourselves and begin to live authentically. Sometimes, we come out once, and then, as we grow and learn more about ourselves, we come out again, maybe as a different gender from the one we were assigned at birth. Whatever it may be, these are our experiences and they are some of the most beautiful moments on the journey of being Queer. Just like the legendary Miss Ross says..."I'm coming out! I want the world to know, gonna let it show!"
Seating begins at 7:00. Show starts at 7:30.
THE BAR IS CASH ONLY.
ABOUT THE SERIES:
Queer To Tell is a NYC born national storytelling series that features LGBTQIA+ storytellers, is hosted by a local drag/queer performance artist, and takes place at Queer-owned/affirming spaces across the country. The series takes place in non-traditional performance spaces to create a space that feels like an intimate gathering audiences are happening upon rather than a theatrical performance. Each show has a different theme that allows for storytellers to share the universal experiences we as a community share but also the nuances of our different identities. This series was established to document the myriad of stories that exist within the LGBTQIA+ community, facilitate and encourage community building, and claim space in places that are actively celebrating and protecting us.
