Why Q Tango?
“Q Tango” was created as a LGBTQIA+ specific space that welcomes dancers of all sexual orientations and gender identities, as well as allies. Unlike traditional tango, which often follows a set pattern of lead and follow roles typically defined by gender, queer tango encourages flexibility in these roles, allowing anyone to lead or follow regardless of their gender. It’s is our hope to foster a more diverse and accepting dance community, celebrating individual expression and connection beyond traditional norms.
Another fun deviation from traditional tango is that Q Tango will lean more towards alternative music rather than traditional music. It will lean more 60/40 alt/traditional during classes. We will explore the concept of classic tango techniques and expanding that to modern day music like blues, classical, electronic, etc.
Accessibility:
Unfortunately, the Baker Building is not wheelchair accessible — there’s a flight of stairs at the entrance. We sincerely apologize for this limitation and hope to one day find a location that’s accessible to everyone. See less
