About the Instructors

Beginner Series: Luna Beller-Tadiar

Luna Beller-Tadiar (she/they) is a queer tango dancer, multi-media artist, and scholar who works on kinesthetic cultures. Anchored in the international queer tango community since 2018, she has since interpreted, organized, danced, or assistant taught for queer tango events in Valencia, Paris, Berlin, New York, and Buenos Aires. Recently they taught an Introduction to Queer Tango series at Duke University, and again at American Dance Festival Studios; she is delighted to continue in her hometown of NYC. In introducing beginners to queer tango Luna aims to facilitate access to our own bodies; bodily connection and listening; and a queer-feminist dance environment grounded in the history and present of tango in Buenos Aires and globally.

Advanced Beginner Series: Patricia Maria

For Patricia Maria, tango is a language that allows communication between bodies, minds, and souls. By using a certain grammar of the body, tango creates a frame that allows each dancer to influence the other in a flowing conversation of complex creativity. As a social dancer and a teacher, Patricia encourages all dancers to invite their inner follower/leader, listener/speaker, giver/receiver to the dialogue--regardless of their roles in life or on the dance floor. As a performer, she invites you to eavesdrop on her next intimate tango conversation. Find Patricia Maria at @patriciamariamoves
