Lewiston Public Library’s new Queer Nonfiction Book Club will be continuing into 2026. This group will meet monthly on the last Tuesday of the month to discuss selected books on LGBTQIA+ history and topics in the library’s Couture Room from 5:30 to 6:30 pm on January 27th, February 24th, and March 31st.
At the January 27th meeting, the group will discuss What Is Queer Food? How We Served a Revolution by John Birdsall. In this book, food writer Birdsall, explores how queer people have used food to build community through tough times.
On February 24th, the group will discuss How We Fight for Our Lives by Saeed Jones. This is the coming-of-age memoir of a gay, Black man in the American South that deals with the intersection of sexuality, race, and power.
On March 31st, the group will discuss Before Gender: Lost Stories from Trans History, 1850-1950 by Eli Erlick, which explores the stories of 30 trans people that challenge assumptions about transgender history.
