About this Event
This is the 2nd event of the Queering Climate Action event series, hosted by the Gorge Waterway Action Society. This series is an exploration in incorporating queer knowledge, joy, and art into climate action. The series includes two seminar style events, each followed by an ecological restoration party. The restoration events will create space for participants to put their climate learnings into action with on-the-ground restoration work, all in tandem with queer joy & art.
Join us on April 10th to help restore the saltmarsh in Esquimalt Gorge Park, and to enjoy a free musical performance featuring local queer artists. We will be planting native species and removing invasives, learning about coastal wetlands and their importance in fighting climate change, and building climate adaptation & mitigation skills, followed by delighting in a nature-themed musical performance.
All ages and skill levels are welcome. Training and tools will be provided!
